Apply concealer correctly and you can get away with very little else. Get it wrong however and it looks awful.
Sorry, but there it is.

Now that I’ve said you’re probably wanting to make sure you’re getting it right. Right?
Okay, I am certain you are, but just in case let’s go over this one more time. You ready? Let’s go.
For concealer to do its job (that is hide any teeny tiny flaws such as scars, freckles, dark circles and so on), it has to be of a creamy, soft texture that blends easily into the skin.
To ensure your concealer does exactly that, test it by applying a little to your hand or arm and gently blend with your fingertips.
Does it blend easily without leaving noticeable edges? This might be the product for you! If you find it sets fast and looks flakey put it down and walk away. Keep trying till you find a texture you enjoy.
Once you have the texture sorted it’s time to look at the shade.
The perfect concealer is generally one or two shades lighter than your natural skin. We also like concealer that has a yellow tone to it as it’s flattering for all and is perfect for brightening under eyes.
We love NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer, $46 (see below). It’s blends like a dream and provides killer coverage while looking 100 per cent natural. You might also like to try Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit, $60. It’s not cheap but it is seriously good. It provides moisture to the delicate under-eye area and gives a smooth, soft-focus look.
Another important tip – apply concealer first.
The reason – you may find that once you have it on you don’t need to apply foundation at all.
Of course, you also need to know where to apply your concealer so that you look your most beautiful. Watch our Beauty Hacks video and learn how to apply this genius product in brand new ways you might never have heard of.
