With Aussies forgoing big overseas trips because of the falling Australian dollar, the opportunity to hit the open road and wander the countryside has never been more appealing.
Just ask writer and TV personality Tara Moss who regularly holidays with her family in their retro caravans.
‘Fell asleep to the sounds of the owls. Woke to the sounds of the kookaburras.
Caravanning is the best,’ Tara posted on her Instagram after road-tripping in New South Wales.
‘We had a delightful family mini-holiday in our vintage caravan Lady Lamour, named for screen siren Dorothy Lamour.
We stopped in some delightful NSW towns, the smaller the better.
This is a beautiful state.
I miss the road already,’ she wrote.
Tara isn’t the only celebrity fan, stars such as Pink and Dame Helen Mirren regularly get away from the hustle and bustle for some downtime caravanning.
And Matthew McConaughey is perhaps the best-known Hollywood celebrity fan of the caravan – or as it’s known in the US, recreational vehicle – calling himself an ‘RV lifer’.
