She’s been making headlines ever since her lifestyle website launched years ago and now Gwyneth Paltrow has come under fire again.

Writing on GOOPs blog recently, Gwyneth suggested that women try to put jade eggs up their vaginas. Gwyneth claimed the $66 rocks boost orgasms, vaginal muscle tone, hormonal balance, and ‘feminine energy’.

Gwyneth, along with her ‘beauty guru/healer/inspiration/friend’, should clench the egg inside them all day to exercise their pelvic floor.

Now, renowned gynaecologist Dr Jen Gunter warns Gwyneth’s advice is nonsense and could actually increase the risk of bacterial vaginosis or deadly toxic shock syndrome.

‘I read the post on GOOP and all I can tell you is it is the biggest load of garbage I have read on your site since vaginal steaming,’ Dr Gunter wrote in an open letter to Gwyneth Paltrow on her blog on Tuesday. ‘It’s even worse than claiming bras cause cancer.’

Initially, Dr Gunter revealed she wasn’t going to comment on Gwyneth’s post but due to so many people reaching out asking her about it, she couldn’t refrain any longer.

‘I have been asked by so many people about your vaginal rocks that I felt it necessary to drop you a line,’ Dr Gunter wrote. ‘The claim that they can balance hormones is, quite simply, biologically impossible. Pelvic floor exercises can help with incontinence and even give stronger orgasms for women, but they cannot change hormones. As for female energy? I’m a gynaecologist and I don’t know what that is. How does one test for it? Organically sourced, fair trade urine pH sticks coming soon to GOOP for $77 I presume?’

This latest backlash is one of many that Gwyneth and GOOP have faced.
