The surprising twist behind Emma Stone’s beauty look

And how to do it yourself!

Emma Stone has walked plenty of red carpets in her time and the woman knows how to make an entrance.

Not surprisingly the 30-year-old award-winning actress (sure, she’s young but she’s already nabbed an Oscar, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe Award) did exactly that at the 2019 Academy Awards.

Emma strutted the length of the red carpet looking utterly amazing – her peaches and cream complexion aglow.

Her auburn hair was chopped short and pulled back, her gown shimmered like a evening sunset but it was her chiselled cheekbones that caught the eye.

Emma has bone structure to die for – cheekbones included, but they were extra special at this event and it turns out there was a reason why.

Instead of applying foundation to Emma’s perfect skin, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin applied a touch of concealer where it was needed and focused on Emma’s astonishing emerald eyes which she coloured burning copper.

On her cheekbones she opted not for blush or highlighter but a shimmery primer.

Yes – it’s an unorthodox move but damn did it work!

Different yes. Stunning – also yes! And something we will try the moment we have the opportunity.

The trick to it, according to Rachel, is to dab it on the top of the cheekbones to give skin dewiness but not shine. If you want shine perhaps let your outfit bring that to the party like Emma’s Louis Vuitton gown absolutely did.

Emma’s cheekbones were highlighted with Sisley Paris Instant Eclat, $105.

Sure it was a risky move but it paid off and in a big way. Emma looked stunning but also deeply modern and even a little left of field – a look everyone adores. And Rachel was delighted.

“It was really, really, really fun to create, for sure,” she told Allure. “It’s very different than her other looks, especially from this particular awards season.”
