After weeks of battling it out in the kitchen, Elena Duggan has been announced as the 2016 winner of MasterChef Australia.
The 32-year-old won on Tuesday night after a three-round battle -including a massive five-and-a-half hour challenge to recreate Heston Blumenthal’s “Verjus in Egg” dessert – against Matt Sinclair.
‘I’m really thankful to share it with these guys. I think our [Matt and Elena] friendship has just grown and he’s been a huge support to me when I’ve just needed to be still or be silent sometimes,’ Duggan said.
‘And I’ve loved cooking beside him, working under him and beside him as a leader and as a teammate,’ she added. ‘I’ve learned a lot about food from Matt and I just love it.’
Duggan won $250,000 and a monthly column in Delicious magazine.
