Her casting has naturally caused some smaller groups on the internet into an uproar, but those die-hard fans of the franchise can take a deep breath because the actress has not been cast as 'James Bond' per say, but rather as his replacement.
Lashana, who appeared as a fighter pilot in Captain Marvel alongside Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, will be a new character introduced into the series following '007's departure from MI6, according to Daily Mail.
The film is already sounding like a hit, with movie insider revealing some crucial and exciting plot points to the Daily Mail: "There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'Come in 007', and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman.
"It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.
"Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don't work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning."
We like the sound of this!
