Kylie shares sad baby news
Kylie Minogue has opened up about motherhood, and mourning the loss of what might have been, following her cancer battle.
Speaking to UK’s Sunday Times Magazine, Minogue has talked frankly about facing a future quite different to the one she had once anticipated, before her diagnosis and treatment.
The star, 48, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37 in 2005.
‘When cancer strikes, you have to consider all of that,’ Minogue said of parenthood. ‘Trust me, there’s a point when the next person who says, ‘Well, there are many options,’ you want to scream. Of course, it’s great there are options. It’s marvellous there are options!’
She added: ‘But when you’re dealing with all the other stuff and things that you took for granted are taken away from you, it’s like, yes, there are options. But I have three nephews who I am crazy about, so I’m good at being an aunty.’
Minogue says she tried to imagine what her children would look like if things were different.
‘I guess you have those visions of, God, what would my child look like, be it a boy or a girl? What would I see of myself in them? That’s saddening, but I’ve had to face that for a long time.’
Minogue is engaged to actor Joshua Sasse, 29.
