It’s been known for a while now that Kristen Stewart identifies as part of the LGBTQI community after a prolonged period together with fellow ‘Twilight’ star, Robert Pattinson.
Stewart spent some time with singer, Soko and has since moved onto an exclusive relationship with visual effects producer Alicia Cargile. It took this relationship for the 26-year-old actress from LA to finally feel comfortable enough to ‘come out’ as a lesbian and not feel the need to hide any element of who she is.
Stewart made the final revelation in the latest issue of Elle UK that she is in love with a woman.
'Right now I'm just really in love with my girlfriend,' Stewart said. 'We've broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, "Finally, I can feel again.";
Until now, it’s been said that Stewart remained ‘cagey’ about her relationship status, with an interview last May in Variety, revealing, 'When I was dating a guy (Pattinson), I would never talk about my relationships. I feel the same way now.'
In an interview with E! News on the promotional tour for her latest movie, ‘Equals’, Stewart explained her thoughts on what it’s like to have to hide who you really are.
'Having to hide yourself in any way doesn't feel good to humans. We want to be seen for who we are.'
Since coming out, Stewart’s life has changed dramatically and she says that she is so much happier.
