After months of indecision, Caitlyn Jenner is finally preparing to take the final step towards becoming a woman, In Touch reports, and her ex-wife Kris Jenner is struggling with the gravity of the news.
Two years after revealing her gender transition, the former Olympian, 67, is ready to face the highly complex and irreversible surgery, and the long and arduous healing process that will follow.
Caitlyn “has decided to have gender-confirmation surgery,” an insider tells In Touch. “This isn’t Botox – this is a massive and life-changing undertaking. She has been talking with a therapist for years to make sure that she is mentally prepared for the changes that will occur after this.
“Even though the process has come a long way thanks to modern medicine, it is still one that is painful and requires a lot of personal care to make sure there are no infections.”
Caitlyn is facing hormonal changes and post-surgery depression, according to In Touch.
The I Am Cait star has shared her plans with friends and family including ex-wife Kris Jenner.
“Kris has been understanding of Caitlyn’s need to have this procedure, but she does have some sadness,” In Touch’s insider says. “She has to mourn the man that she was with for so many years, the man that she slept with and made children with.”
