“Jasmine has always been very close to Isabel and wanted nothing more than to have her alive to meet her first bub.” Despite only sharing the exciting news with a close circle of people – including their parents and manager Sharon Finnigan – Jasmine and Karl can’t hide their eagerness to start a family.
“Karl has been attempting to meet with Nine executives to understand what his future holds with the network, so he and Jasmine can plan how life will be with the impending arrival,” the source says.
Despite a rocky few years, Karl has turned over a new leaf and is now eager to start working again so he can provide for his growing family. The source reveals: “This baby symbolises so much for Karl and Jasmine. It has been a rough bloody ride persevering with their relationship in the face of unprecedented scrutiny.
“Karl is caring less and less about being a national icon and has come to accept that what matters more than anything is Jasmine and their baby.”
The pair seem stronger than ever and are both getting broody, as Jasmine often posts pictures of her family and friends’ babies on social media, and during their wedding in December 2018 Karl apparently gushed to guests about his plans to be a dad again.
While the TV host confirmed back in 2010 that he’d had a vasectomy following the birth of his three children, Jackson, 19, Ava, 13, and River, 12, with his ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn, this year sources revealed to The Daily Telegraph that Karl had “undergone vasectomy reversal surgery and was trying for a baby”.
While Karl received a fair bit of backlash for his relationship with the shoe designer, despite the public disapproval the pair wed in an extravagant four-day ceremony in Mexico.
Since then, Sydney based Karl has kept a low profile and now fans are calling for his return to Today, which sources says could be in 2020. Karl was also due to attend the Logies, cementing his future with the network.
“If Karl’s career is to become resurrected, he is quietly confident having a baby might allow his critics to see him as a family man who has his priorities organised and give him another chance,” the source adds.
