The 44-year-old former Today show host posted a snap a few days earlier from the start of their trip.
"Road trip with the whanau. Bags being In the back," he captioned the pic. 'Whanau' is a Māori language word for extended family.
Channel Nine recently announced that the 44-year-old would be leaving the show after 14 years.
'Nine and Karl Stefanovic have agreed it is time for him to step off the Today Show. Karl remains on contract with the network and will continue to host This Time Next Year, which records in February,' Darren Wick, Director of News and Current Affairs at Channel Nine, said in the statement.
