Jonathan Lipnicki became an instant star after his adorable portrayal of Renee Zellweger’s son in smash hit film Jerry Maguire. At just six years of age, Jonathan went onto star in the Stuart Little movies as well as various roles on television.
Now, the 26-year-old has revealed in an Instagram post, that he suffered horrific bullying throughout his childhood which led to him battling anxiety.
“As a kid/teen, I was made fun of relentlessly by some people who are now even my friends on FB [Facebook],” he said in the emotional post. “I was told I was a has-been and would never book a job again. I was made to feel like garbage every day of middle school to the point where I had a panic attack every night before school, because I wondered how I would get through the next day.”
He continued, “In high school, a certain kid emphatically called me a has-been in front of my Econ class … It was humiliating.”
In the past, Jonathan has been forthcoming about his treatment for anxiety and depression for a long time, revealing to TooFab that he had developed eczema on his palms for frequently rubbing his hands together due to anxiety.
Jonathan explains he doesn’t want to be seen as a victim, while celebrating the fact he’d made her movies as an adult than he did as a child actor.
‘I didn’t expect to feel like this, but I do,’ he explained on Instagram. ‘Sure they aren’t studio films or wide releases, but they are in theatres! I am chasing my dreams and couldn’t be happier.’
