Insider reveals "witch hunt" over leaked Nine Network footage
According to a TV insider there will be a “witch hunt” to find the person responsible for leaking the embarrassing footage of Nine News presenter Amber Sherlock blasting colleague Julie Snook for her choice of outfit yesterday.
“It was hugely embarrassing and Amber will be demanding answers,” the insider revealed to News.com.au.
“There’s no doubt that leaking such a video could be a sackable offence. It made one of their star presenters look nuts and petty. I suspect the IT department will be currently investigating who emailed Mumbrella [where the footage first appeared] yesterday afternoon.”
The source also explains that finding the culprit may take time, as many people had access to the footage.
“Cameras and microphones are often open during a commercial break so presenters can check their appearance and ensure any guests outside of the main studio can be heard.”
“It’s hard to know who would have leaked it because studio output feeds can often be accessed by affiliates around the country as well as an internal feed in Sydney.”
It’s also been reported that the clip was emailed around the Nine newsroom, before being leaked to Mumbrella.
According to the insider, Sherlock’s diva behaviour may not be an isolated incident with wardrobe allegedly being a hotly debated issue for on-camera talent.
“I’ve seen some big tantrums about presenters being given similar outfits to colleagues. This is not a rarity.”
“Some stars often claim the others are getting preferential treatment because they got to wear some brand or another,” the source continued.
“It’s all paranoid stuff but it sets them off. Producers often wish that some presenters cared as much about the content as they do about the colour of their top.”
Sherlock has since admitted to Nine Honey that she “probably reacted” over the incident. But despite this, she appears to have gone into social media hiding this morning and has locked all accounts from being publically viewed.
This hasn’t stopped the instantly infamous meltdown from trending on Twitter however, with many fans having a field day over the awkward exchange.
