They pulled off possibly of showbiz’s most secretive wedding, and now details are emerging about the great lengths Jesinta and Buddy Franklin went to in order to keep their big day undercover.
A guest who spoke to The Sydney Morning Herlad revealed the newlyweds invited ‘only their immediate friends and family’.
'It wasn't a stuffy wedding. (Jesinta) is known for being laid back and easy going and that's exactly what she was as a bride,' the source revealed.
'They danced all night long and were surrounded by people who love and respect them,' they added.
And in a sneaky bid to outsmart the paparazzi, guests on social media started hashtaggingthe ceremony in several different places – with rumours swirling that the nuptials had taken place in Queenstown, South Australia’s Barossa Valley and even South Africa.
In actual fact, the ceremony was held at Mount Wilson's Wildenstein Gardens in the New South Wales Blue Mountains.
The service at the sprawling 12.5-acre estate was 'pulled together really quickly', an insider told Fairfax Media.
But perhaps the most interesting twist was the fact that Jesinta and Buddy may have used fake names to keep their wedding top secret.
Two of Buddy’s former team mates alluded to the pseudonyms 'Tony and Shaz' when congratulating the couple on Instagram.
'Tony and Shaz congrats!!! Great day,' Buddy's friend and Hawthorn player Jarryd Roughhead wrote, sharing a photo of himself with wife Sarah at the wedding.
While former team mate, Jordan Lewis said:
'What a night, thanks for sharing such a special occasion with us. #Tony&Shaz.'
And friend of the couple, Mark Evans added the hastag ‘Shaz and Tony’ to his snap of the big day.
Jesinta and Buddy’s surprise wedding shocked fans, as the 25-year-old model had dismissed marriage rumours just days earlier, telling the Today show her wedding to 29-year-old AFL star, Buddy was still postponed.
Jesinta had also told the Courier Mail that the couple would ‘probably just elope’ and ‘keep it very simple’ when they eventually decided to tie the knot.
Jesinta and Buddy were originally due to marry in January, but postponed whilst Buddy battled a mental health issue.
