Despite leaving Toad waiting at the end of the aisle for half an hour, when Mandy finally walked down the aisle in a stunning dress from CC Bridal, she took his breath away.
“It was pretty bloody special,” he says. “It was everything I had wished for my whole life and she was beautiful.”
The couple, who also share twins Lenny and Layla, 3, ensured they were
a big part of their special day.
“They sent my kids down the aisle first and then Mandy came out and I bawled my eyes out pretty much,” gushes Toad.
Safe to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience after that. “Put it this way, we bought packs of tissues for all our guests,” adds Mandy. “As we all knew Toad was going to cry and when he started crying everyone was sobbing.”
Then came time for the reception, and plenty of dancing was involved!
“We walked straight in to our first dance,” says Mandy. “We chose a song by Lee Brice,
‘I Don’t Dance’ – it’s a country song.”
The newlyweds had a cocktail reception so they could enjoy mingling with their guests, including some of their fellow House Rules contestants. “It was really good to see them all,” says Mandy. “Some of the crew were there too, because they are also our House Rules family.”
In fact, they loved seeing them so much, they held a recovery lunch with them the
next day. “We had a barbecue the day after and got back on the beers,” laughs Toad.
“We had [Johanna] Griggs and all the House Rules crew and ate sausages I made and told stories. It was brilliant.”
While their big day might be over, Toad and Mandy are excited to start a number of new adventures, but unfortunately, they have had to put their honeymoon on hold.
“Toad’s going into surgery for a shoulder reconstruction, so we couldn’t go on the honeymoon straight away,” reveals Mandy. “We have to see how he recovers from that, but if it goes well, we are going to go to Tasmania in October.”
Of course, the happy couple have plenty to keep them busy in the meantime. “We are currently building a beauty salon for Amanda,” says Toad.
“We started that a week before the wedding,” adds Mandy. “It will be ready in four weeks.”
And, if Toad has anything to say about it, they could be adding to their brood.
“If you ask me, yes, if you ask Amanda, no,” he laughs.
“If we do, it won’t be until we have set the salon up and it can be self-managed,” says Mandy. “But we will see. It’s definitely not off the cards.”
