Cockroaches
Sometimes you see one and then before you know it that number starts multiplying rapidly. Get to it before the problem is out of control with a couple of simple home-made cockroach deterrents. A bunch of dried bay leaves left in the back of a cupboard are reputed to be effective in keeping cockroaches away. A spray bottle with a mix of water and an essential oil such as citronella, peppermint or tea tree oil can be sprayed around the affected area and should deter cockroaches from returning.
Ants
Don’t want ants in your house? Simply wipe cinnamon oil near and around their entrance points to the house and this will deter them. Lemons or lemon oil can work as well.
Mosquitoes
A simple mix of essential oils such as citronella, lavender and eucalyptus, and some witch hazel in a spray bottle with room temperature water is a great natural repellent that you can spray and rub onto your skin that doesn’t contain any nasty poisons.
Flies
A simple mix of clove oil and water in a spray bottle is a very effective fly deterrent; they hate it! No flies on us!
Spiders
After you remove webs (and any spiders that may be living there) from the corner of a room, spray with a mix of peppermint oil and water and they won’t return.
