“I thought, if we’ve got the opportunity to do something on a show that’s seen by so many people, it was really important that it be done compassionately and done well
– and with a good dose of reality because it’s such a fraught experience for people.
“I’m also really interested in seeing Karen’s journey shift,” adds Georgia. “She was in such a state of distress and crisis when she first came into the storylines last year, and that was incredibly hard for Dean as well. She and Dean continue to work out how to manage and live with her mental illness.
“Continuing to build her relationship with Dean is a really lovely thing to come back to.”
In real life, Georgia – soon to be seen again on stage and the big screen – is mum to 13-year-old twin boys, Otto and Finbar.
“I know what a challenge parenting is,” she says, “and I can only imagine how much harder that would be when you’re suffering terribly yourself. My boys are the joys of my life.”
