On Wednesday, KIIS FM breakfast radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson announced on the Kyle and Jackie O Show that she has been diagnosed with skin cancer. She also revealed she would be getting the cancer removed this week and that it will leave a scar on her forehead.
The 43-year-old told her co-host Kyle Sandilands, “I know you like to make fun of me so I’m just going to give you the heads up about something that’s going to be happening,”
“I’m going to have a big scare on my forehead, I’m going to have stitches. Don’t call me Scarface, don’t tease me about it but it’s happening soon.”
Jackie further explained that since the cancer is on her face, it will be hard for her to conceal the scar after the cancer had been removed.
“The worst part is you could [usually] cover it with hair, like I could do a swooping [fringe] – you know, like I usually do with my hair,”
“But exactly where the scar is, that’s where my cowlick is, so it always separates. So it’s like a little curtain opening. I can’t even hide it with hair,” she explained.
Due to her family history with the disease, Jackie has said she regularly goes for skin cancer check ups.
“I’ve had heaps cute out. But they’re always in places you don’t see. They’re harmless ones. They’re not like the deadly ones,” she said on-air.
“I had one just below the collarbone and that took eight months [to heal]. It was quite a red scar.”
Upon the revelation, Sandilands expressed his surprise and said he didn’t even notice anything with her forehead. In explanation, Jackie said that her skin cancer is in the form of pale pink skin and that it doesn’t always come in the form of moles.
