Sarah Ferguson – the woman many of us know as Fergie – has revealed the surprising job she had before meeting and marrying Prince Andrew.
Speaking on the Skavlan TV show in Stockholm, Sweden, Fergie revealed she led a very different life before marrying into royalty.
‘You won't believe it but when I was 18, I cleaned very good mirrors,’ the former Duchess of York told the show.
‘I cleaned lavatories when I was 18 and graduates' bedrooms; they all left it very messy.
‘And then the waitresses in a strudel house.
‘I don’t cook, I just took the strudel out of the deep freezer and put it in the oven; that’s cooking,’ Fergie continued.
‘Then I married a prince, it was great.’
It’s not the first time Fergie has spoken candidly about life. She’s known for her revealing insights into royal life.
Earlier this year, as she prepared to see her youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, marry, she reflected on her own wedding with columnist Piers Morgan.
'Let me go back in time. You are taken with such a wave of energy, that it is just mesmeric, it is just extraordinary,’ she said of her own wedding day.
'And you're so in love, it's your wedding day. Like every bride's wedding day, it's a special day.
'And you've got a beautiful dress on. But you're standing there with the man you love.
'And then there are people out there who are wishing you so well. And it's just extraordinary.'
