Todd McKenney’s claim that the man who subsequently married his sister Lisa, singer and TV star Simon Gallaher, was once his lover of five years, continues to cause huge dramas today – with the couple’s children said to be ‘distraught’ over Todd’s indiscrete public comments
According to entertainment reporter Peter Ford, speaking on radio station 6PR, the situation between Todd and his niece and nephews is now far from what the Dancing with The Stars once proudly described as ‘close’.
Revealing that some of Simon and Lisa’s children ‘did not know’ about their father’s past, Ford says the family is devastated by Todd’s public bombshell. Revealing that Todd had been advised at the time of the relationship to keep it out of view due to Simon’s then image as a clean-cut boy next door and heartthrob, it seems that the former TV dance judge misjudged the situation with his family now.
‘Some of Simon and Lisa’s kids did not know about this chapter of Simon’s life, and they are furious,’ Ford told 6PR. ‘It’s a very, very ugly situation.’
In his original interview with Melbourne’s Joy FM, Todd has waxed lyrical about his close relationship with his niece and nephews, and claimed the time was now right to speak out as they are now all grown up. He also appeared to indicate they already knew of his version of events.
‘Clearly speaking to the family that is not the case,’ says Ford of the now shattered family relationships. ‘Todd has clearly misread the situation. These people are distraught that this has been made public.
‘Having contact with the daughter yesterday, Gigi, I don’t think there is any closeness there anymore.’
Simon, who has never commented about his sexuality and remains happily married to Lisa, yesterday hit back on Facebook at Todd’s claims. .
‘I have only one thing to say. Todd McKenney is a Headline Whore,’ he wrote on his Facebook feed, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald. ‘Shame on him. His sister on the other hand is the love of my life and wife of over 31 years. I love her to the end of the world.’
Todd’s sister Lisa is equally incensed, writing on Facebook: ‘Oh I’m okay, my brother is being a douche bag. We all have to just duck the fall out now.’
