Married At First Sight’s Eden Harper has shared new details about her breakup from Jayden Eynaud.
Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, Eden confirmed she isn’t in contact with Jayden and won’t be getting back together with the kick boxer.
While it didn’t end the way she wanted, Eden said she is “grateful” for her time on MAFS.
“It served its purpose and our ship’s sailed, that’s for sure.” she told the publication. “I just think that the disrespect I received afterwards, I couldn’t take someone back after that. Especially when he didn’t apologise.”
Now, she is ready to move on and find a new man.
Eden took to Instagram in April to confirm that while she had hoped her relationship with Jayden would be “long-term”, her fairy-tale had come to an end.
“I’m saddened to share that toward the end of the show airing, our relationship came to an unexpected end. The ‘reality’ is, [that] the person I chose didn’t choose me. Whilst I’m disappointed, I will never regret the experiment, the people I met, the lessons I learnt, and the growth this process has had on me.”
Jayden followed up with a statement of his own just hours later, confirming that the relationship just didn’t “go the way” he hoped for.
“After the experiment, Eden and I went back to the Gold Coast and continued to enjoy living our lives together and getting to know each other every day.”
“However, unfortunately, our relationship ended not long before the end of the experiment airing. As sad as it is, I’m so glad I got to go through this with such an amazing woman.”
The news came just weeks after Eden suggested there could be tension between the pair after fans criticised Jayden for dancing “inappropriately” with a different bride, Lauren Dunn, 32, on a night out.
“I think both of their behaviour on that night was quite disrespectful of me,” Eden told the Daily Mail.
“It felt almost a little bit intentional from Lauren’s half to hurt my feelings, and maybe Jayden as well,” she continued, adding that it was “inappropriate and trashy”.
The bride added that the behaviour was “more embarrassing for them” than it was for herself.
Lauren, however, defended her actions by saying she and Jayden were playing it up for the cameras, but there remains no romantic interest between the pair.
“Not Jayden, the kid’s about six years younger than me, and he’s just, not for me. And he’s with Eden, apparently,” Lauren added cryptically.
After Eden and Jayden exchanged the ‘L’ word during the final MAFS dinner party, it certainly seemed like ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ were in it for the long haul. Post-experiment, they were spotted in each other’s orbit, suggesting they were still together after final vows.
Although one of the strongest couples of the season, Jayden and Eden weren’t without their problems. Their issues first arose in the wake of Sara’s alleged cheating scandal. When learning about her fellow bride’s date with her ex-boyfriend, Eden confided in Jayden for help.
The two had a united front as they confronted Sara about the secret meet-up, insisting that she tell Tim about her recent wrongdoings.
But when Eden later told Jayden that Sara had been “talking sh*t” about Tim behind his back, Jayden insisted they tell Tim once more. Eden, meanwhile, wanted to remove herself from the equation.
Then came her ultimatum.
“If you don’t say what I tell you to say, I’m done with you and I’m leaving you,” the bride told Jayden when he threatened to tell Tim.
The two looked visibly upset as the groom recalled this moment to the experts at a commitment ceremony.
An emotional Jayden then revealed that Eden blew up at him for not putting in enough effort.
“[I get her] flowers five times a week, I made a dog out of her pillows because she’s missing her dog, I take you out for dinner every weekend, I’m writing her lists of everything I like about her,” he said through tears.
“And then, because I wouldn’t do one thing, you blew up at me and you said ‘Why don’t you do something nice for me for once in your life?'”
Eden apologised and the two were left emotional as they sat on the lounge, ultimately proving to the experts that they cared deeply for each other.
Both chose to stay in the experiment in the end, but were encouraged to talk through their problems.
