A concerned viewer has potentially saved a TV journalist’s career, after she contacted the network to urge the reporter to get a health check.

Wendy McCoy from Werribee Victoria was watching Studio 10 on Friday, when she noticed something unusual on journalist Antoinette Lattouf’s neck.
Taking to Facebook, the concerned viewer pointed out that you could see a lump on the reporter’s neck, which seemed a little too pronounced.
“Has Antoinette Lattouf had her thyroid checked? I am not being smart or trolling just concerned with what I saw on TV today?” Wendy wrote.
After seeing the “strange” query, Antoinette’s editor replied to the woman by asking whether or not she was a health professional.
Wendy explained that she wasn’t a doctor, but added the sight reminded her of one of her friends, who had a similar affliction.
“I felt concerned and thought I should say something,” she added.
Penning an article for 10 daily, Antoinette later revealed that she was a bit taken aback, when she was first approached by her editor about the woman’s query.
Not willing to take any chances, the journalist said her boss encouraged her to make an appointment with her GP to have a thorough examination.
“Given I have a family history of thyroid cancer and other relos with a range of thyroid-related illnesses, I went and saw my GP,” Antoinette wrote.
Three blood tests, an ultrasound and CT scan later, it turns out she did have a large cyst in her neck, which required surgery, as well as an underlying autoimmune condition.
While the cyst turned out to be benign, if left untreated it could have increased pressure on the vital structures in her neck and led to other serious issues.
Following her diagnosis, Antoinette reached out to Wendy, who admitted she almost didn’t say anything because she didn’t want to appear as interfering.
