A Tasmanian radio presenter has been suspended after she made a tasteless joke referencing the Dreamworld tragedy which killed four people.
Anna Dare, who co-hosts the 7HOFM breakfast show made the comments during a segment where listeners are asked to guess the secret sound.
'I really don’t like it,' said Dare said after hearing the sound, 'it’s violent sounding'.
She added: 'It’s not getting stuck in a conveyor belt at a theme park is it? Too soon?'
Mick Newell, her co-host, sighed before she continued, saying, 'That’s what it sounds like to me when I first heard it...that’s the first thing I thought of.'
Not long after, Dare was taken off air and suspended.
CEO of Grant Broadcasters, Grant Cameron, said in a statement: 'The announcer’s remark demonstrated a serious lapse in judgement and we sincerely apologise to our listeners, the broader community and everyone affected by this week’s terrible tragedy.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who lost their lives.'
