American television personality Dr Mehmet Oz is an expert in Alzheimer's symptoms, but the famous physician failed to recognise the signs in his own mother.
In an emotional statement, the famous cardiac surgeon revealed he felt guilty that he didn't recognise the symptoms of Alzeihemers in his 81-year-old mother after the family received the devastating diagnosis.
“[When] it came to my own family, I completely missed the signs of one of the most feared diseases,” the Dr. Oz Show host wrote on his official website.

“Hearing the official diagnosis was devastating,” he continued.
“But just as painful for me was the realization that the signs were there all along — I had just been overlooking them.”
Speaking on his show, Dr Oz revealed he overlooked such tell-tale signs like his mother's sudden stubbornness, misplacing objects and her difficulty to complete tasks.
“It’s very painful to admit this on my own stage,” Dr. Oz shared.
“My family lost our truth. The biggest lies we tell are the ones we tell ourselves.”
