Trump has co-authored several books, including the popular The Art of the Deal. He owned the Miss Universe and Miss USA beauty pageants from 1996 to 2015, and he produced and hosted the reality television show The Apprentice from 2003 to 2015. Back then he was mostfamous for pointing at his poor apprentices and telling them 'You're fired!' Since he became President of the United States, people are still leaving his employment in droves. Donald Trump is married to Melania Trump and has 5 children; Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Baron.
Why is Donald Trump's face orange?
Tangerine, ochre, peach, salmon there are probably fifty shades of orange (so to speak) but the American president has his very own shade. Donald Trump orange. The colour orange is created by mixing yellow and red. It's generally associated with energy and vibrancy, but it's said to have physical effects as well. Apparently, the colour orange can make you hungry, increase your energy and your brain power as well as give you increased self- assurance. In the U.S. orange is also associated with Halloween and the prison system... best not to think about that too much.
Was Trump always this orange? Let's go back a few years and check
This photo is of Donald Trump in the 1990s. Note that he is totally without tan. In this photo he has Halloween associations – of the ghostly kind. Hmmm. If we compare these before and after shots it seems that Donald Trump started to turn orange when he turned to politics in 2012.
Donald Trump's Fake Tan
Despite the associated health risks, Americans are still big fans of the tan believing it makes them look more attractive, healthier, thinner and younger. Both men and women go to all sorts of lengths to achieve that bronze glow.
Perhaps Donald Trump believed a tan complexion would improve his appearance and his prospects of being President. And maybe, because of his desire to win, he went just that bit too far. Although we attribute his win to more than the tan, his colour has been the subject of countless memes and jokes on the internet.
So lets take a look at several possible explanations...
1) Maybe Donald Trump eats lots of carrots
Remember when your mum used to tell you that eating lots of carrots would improve your eyesight? Well carrots also have a high amount of beta-carotene that can cause your skin to turn orange. You have to eat a lot of carrots before you turn orange. Maybe Donald has really good eyesight and a really good tan. There's food for thought (or tanning).
2) Perhaps Donald Trump has been spending time in a Tanning Bed or getting a spray tan?
A tan is a really bad idea for your skin on so many levels. Tanning beds, aka solariums, have been proven to be directly responsible for causing skin cancer and banned for commercial use in Australia. Thankfully we won't see our Pollies using this method to score vote winning tans any time soon.
But Trump? Well we suspect he is quite possibly using this tan tactic due to the tell tale white marks around his eyes. Looks suspiciously to use like tiny solarium goggle marks.
Spray tans and self-application tans have become hugely popular in recent years but there's a fine art to getting that tan just right and leaving no marks on your body. A whole industry has sprung up around tanning. You can buy mitts to exfoliate with, dresses to slip on after your tan and even sleeping bags so you don't ruin your sheets.
So, could this be another clue to the white circles around Donald Trump's eyes? Is he afraid of stinging his eyeballs with product?
Jason Kelly is the official make-up artist of the Republican National Convention. He recently revealed this in an interview with Harper's Bazaar US:
"I know exactly what he does to himself — the tanning bed, the spray tan, he wears the goggles and you can see the hyperpigmentation around his eyes,"
If Donald Trump uses a tanning bed, why does he turn orange instead of bronze? This is probably related to his eye colour and natural skin colour which has a lot of red pigment beneath his pale complexion.
The Colour Wheel
Looking at this artist's colour wheel you can see that yellow and red produce orange, red and blue produce purple, and blue and yellow produce green. We can probably say a tanning bed distributes that burnt yellow pigment to give one a tan; too much and you'll look toast. Too little will make you look well, orange.
Donald Trump has a LOT of pink undertones in his skin. No wonder he turns orange when he goes to a tanning salon.
3) Does Donald Trump use makeup?
Donald Trump's eye colour is blue and people with this eye colour are often pale. Those with fair skin have the option of many kinds of makeup to help achieve a more tanned look. The best option is a bronzer. There are a wide variety of bronzers including liquid, spray, and even powder.
Kinds of Bronzers
1. Powder bronzer is one of the more traditional types of bronzers used by makeup junkies and is typically applied with an angled bronzer brush.
2. Liquid bronzers are easy to work with. You can just spread it on and it almost melts into the skin. You can also apply it not just on your face but on your entire body.
3. Cream bronzers are used if you want to sport a heavier coverage.
Jason Kelly, revealed that he deals with Trump's tan by using, wait for it, more tan.
"What I'll do is use a slightly deeper colour and blend it into his tan so there's not an abrupt contrast. I'm ready for it."
Trump should probably change his tanning salon or spray tan products that he's using. All of this can't be good for you.
It's possible of course that Donald Trump is just preparing for his new career - as an actor in a remake of the cult-classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Can't you see him starring as an Oompa Loompa?
