From balms to sprays to ointments, every mum has their own remedy to beat postpartum pain. A popular and recommended choice for nursing your body back to health is ice packs. Not only does it relieve the aching and burning discomfort, it helps reduce inflammation of the area for up to 2 hours. Joy!
In a Facebook post that has been shared over 123,000 times, US nanny and mum Elisa Castellanos shares the recipe for her vagina-saving invention… ‘Pad-sicles’.
“To all my pregnant mommy friends... you'll want to make these before you go into the hospital!!!” she says.
The “popsicles for down there” are prepared using sanitary pads and a solution of witch hazel, aloe vera gel and essential oils.
Castellanos deemed them “lifesavers” and judging by the amount of positive feedback, the public seems to agree.
To make you'll need:
- Witch Hazel
- Aloe Vera Gel
- Pads
- Lavender essential oil (optional)
Here's how:
- Open the pad and save the wrapper!
- For each pad you'll want about 2tbsp of witch hazel, about 1tbsp of the aloe Vera gel, and a couple of drops of the oil. Mix it all onto the pad and then fold in half and wrap it back into the wrapper.
- Store all padsicles in a gallon size Freezer baggie and place them in the freezer!
