A British single mum has revealed that she lost almost half her body weight thanks to a diet og green tea.
Following the birth of her daughter and splitting up with her partner, depressed single mum Siobhan Thornton found herself tipping the scales at an alarming 111kgs.
However after months of gorging herself on junk food – a consequence of her severe depression – Siobhan started researching weight loss aids online, and discovered the amazing benefits of drinking green tea.
And now, the newly confident café worker is down to a healthy 57 kilos after drinking a minimum of two cups a day of the healthy herbal remedy.
'I used to avoid looking at myself - now my confidence is through the roof and I've halved my BMI,' she told The Mirror.
'I am certain that I lost the first three stone (19kgs) through drinking green tea alone.
'My metabolism just went through the roof and I hadn't done much else.
'I was measuring my waist and it was getting smaller and smaller and I wasn't doing any exercise.
'Green tea is so underrated and it's cheap as chips.'
According to weight loss studies, green tea helps fat oxidation and improves exercise performance.
However, whilst Siobhan admits to doing little exercise in the initial stages of her weight loss, she reveals that once she’d shed a few kilos, she was able to turn her fitness regime up a notch.
And while her former partner may have dumped her, the slimmed-down mum reveals she now has men fighting for her attention.
'I've had people chase me down on the motorway twice trying to give me their numbers,' she said.
'I'm still processing getting this sort of attention.'
