Who Is David Schwimmer?
David Schwimmer is an American actor and director. As a young actor, David struggled to find work, getting small roles on shows like NYPD Blues and L.A. Law before scoring the part of Ross Geller on the hit sitcom Friends. The show was a massive success that ran for a full decade.
He’s also known for his role as the lead in The Pallbearer and voicing Melman the Giraffe in the Madagascar franchise. David’s also branched out into Broadway, trying his hand at both starring and directing productions. He made a return to TV comedy when he had a guest role in the controversial show Come Fly With Me. He also had a hilarious rap battle with James Corden and Rebel Wilson, where Rebel’s witty digs and David’s snappy comebacks got the clip over 28-millions views on Youtube!
While Friends fans have clamoured for a reboot or a movie, David has been adamant about not reprising Ross. Guess he’s excited to try different projects and move on!
David Schwimmer’s Relationships Over The Years
While it’s been rumoured that David dated Minnie Driver and Brandi Glanville back in the ‘90s, neither woman has actually confirmed that they were in an official relationship with him. Nothing wrong with keeping it casual! Still, there have been quite a few celebrities that he’s stepped out with publicly. Here are all the women David has ever dated.
David briefly dated Tina Barrett in 2004. Formerly a member of British pop group S Club 7, Tina had several hit singles with them before the group parted ways. She's now part of S Club 3, a spin-off group with other former S Club 7 members.
He dated Spanish actress Carla from 2002 to 2003. She had small roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Coyote Ugly, but has since kept a low profile.
He dated Israeli-American actress Mili Avital in 2001 after they became co-stars in the TV movie Uprising. She is now married to screenwriter Charles Randolph and the happy couple has two children.
Australian singer and actress Natalie Imbruglia was David’s girlfriend from 1996 to 1997. Best known for playing Beth Brennan in Neighbours, and her hit song Torn, Natalie got married to Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns in 2003. While they got divorced in 2008, she’s since announced that she’s undergone IVF and is now expecting her first child.
Did He Ever Date Any Of His Co-Stars?
While there have been rumours that David dated both Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow apparently they never even hooked up. Lisa actually got married early as the series continued filming, while Courtney married and later split up from a different David – actor David Arquette.
Though David and Jennifer Aniston’s Friends characters became a couple, there was no real-life Ross and Rachel! Jennifer’s dated Paul Rudd and Tate Donovan, both of whom have appeared on the show. Even her ex-husband Brad Pitt showed up for an episode of Friends! But David and Jennifer Aniston have never been an item, despite goss about a fling back when they were co-stars!
David was a guest star on Will and Grace, a hit show about the friendship between a gay lawyer and an interior designer. He was playing the role of Grace’s new love interest for the reboot. Rumours soon flew about a budding romance between him and Debra Messing, the actress who plays Grace. Those were quickly put to rest when David’s official rep said they weren’t dating.
Zoe Buckman: Their Relationship And History
David Schwimmer’s wife was Zoe Buckman. Zoe is a British photographer, and the grandniece of Sir Alec Guinness. David first met Zoe in 2007 on the set of Run, a romantic comedy which he directed. Sparks flew between the couple and the London-based artist relocated to Los Angeles to be with her new boyfriend. After three years of dating, David and Zoe announced that they were engaged in March 2010. They discreetly tied the knot in a private ceremony on June 4, 2010, but didn’t let anyone find out until October that year!
It was the first marriage for both of them, and they became parents to daughter Cleo Buckman Schwimmer in May 2011. Throughout their marriage, it seemed like the two had settled into domestic bliss. Sadly, after nearly seven years, the couple made a joint statement to Us Weekly announcing their separation in April 2017.
“It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship,” said David and Zoe. “Our priority is, of course, our daughter’s happiness and well being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family.”
We really thought that David and Zoe had gotten their fairytale ending, so it was crushing to find out about the divorce. Hopefully, the couple manages to keep things civil as they raise their 8-year-old daughter Chloe. While they haven’t been spotted dating anyone seriously since the split, we wish them the best in their future relationships!
