When Damien Leith took out Australian Idol in 2006 it seemed the world was at his feet.
But despite a slew of hit songs and a steady career after his win, the former chemist has revealed he struggled financially.
The Irish-born singer explained he did not profit from any of the 300,000 copies of his winners album that were sold after his victory.

'After Idol there definitely was that low point... at the time, yeah, I was frustrated and annoyed and all the rest,' he told The Daily Telegraph.
However, the 40-year-old father of three reveals he has been able to move on from his struggles.
'The things that have happened from that point onward have overshadowed it,' he continued.
