Nick Smith's first appeared in Summer Bay in 1999, trying to escape from Jonno, a drug dealer and biker gang leader, he had a debt with. Jonno beat him up, but he was saved by his siblings Will and Haley. He soon returned to his adoptive parents, and that was the first introduction to this character. Nick Smith's Memorable Scenes in Home and Away
I scoured the web for Nick's memorable moments on the show and found a few thanks to Youtube. Enjoy watching my selections! It is from 2003 so don't expect HD quality but I hope you enjoy them as I did.
This is a scene from Home and Away where Hayley is convincing Nick to stay home but Nick is afraid because of the "thief" image he gotten. Due to his debt.
Nick damaged Will's car and now he has debt. He owes money to fix Will's car.
This was Nick's final scene in Home and Away when he received an offer from Hollywood. Nick's fictional character's reason is not too far off from his real-life persona Chris Egan. Who also left the soap opera to pursue a career in Hollywood.
Will Nick Ever Come Back?
It's been 15 years my friends and there's been no sign at all that Chris Egan will return as Nick on Home and Away. Don't worry because you can still see Chris on other projects he's working on.
Chris Egan after Home and Away
Chris Egan left Home and Away the same way his character Nick did. To pursue a career in Hollywood. He moved to Los Angeles the same year he left Home and Away, in 2003. His first US debut was a television miniseries called Empire. Soon after he stared in films like independent movie Alpha Male, full feature The Decameron, Resident Evil: Extinction, and Eragon.
His most notable movie role to date has been co-starring with Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Redgrave and Gael García Bernal in the 2009 romantic comedy Letters to Juliet.
The Decameron (Virgin Territory, 2007)
Chris Egan stars as Dioneo in the 2007 romantic comedy film Virgin Territory. Based from Giovanni Boccaccio's classic, Decameron. It was released in France as Medieval Pie. Ironically it is heavily inspired from popular teen movie American Pie. Although not the starring role, this gave Chris a great start in Hollywood. Chris co-stars in Decameron with Star Wars alum Hayden Christensen, and The OC’s Mischa Barton.
Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) In the 3rd instalment of popular Sci-Fi Horror Film Resident Evil, Chris Egan co-stars in the movie as Mikey.
Eragon (2006)
In the medieval sci-fi film Eragon, Chris Egan stars as Roran. The movie version did not receive the same success as the book it is based upon. In fact, Eragon was voted the 10th worst movie of 2006 according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Letters to Juliet (2010)
Letters to Juliet has been one of Chris Egan's more memorable movies in Hollywood. He was cast as the male lead, side-by-side with Mean Girls alumni Amanda Seyfried. The movie was inspired by the 2006 non-fiction book Letters to Juliet, by Lise Friedman and Ceil Friedman. The story chronicles the phenomenon of letter-writing to Shakespeare's most famous romantic heroine.
"Listen. Listen to me very carefully. I live in London, a gorgeous, vibrant, historic city that I happen to love living in. You live in New York, which is highly overrated... But since the Atlantic Ocean is a bit wide to cross every day, swimming, boating or flying, I suggest we flip for it... And if those terms are unacceptable, leaving London will be a pleasure, as long as you're waiting for me on the other side. 'Cause the truth is, I am Madly, Deeply, Truly, Passionately in Love with You. - Charlie, Letters to Juliet (2009)"
