When Melanie Vallejo signed on to play sassy doctor Sophie Wong on a quirky show written by Packed To The Rafters creator Bevan Lee, she never expected to walk away utterly devastated five years later.
But that’s just what happened when the brunette beauty and her co-stars-turned-close friends Melissa Bergland (Jenny Gross) and Virginia Gay (Frances James) bid farewell after filming of the fifth series finished.
‘I was in tears… There are lots of tears,’ Melanie admits. ‘It made it really easy to shoot, because there was lots of sobbing. Our lovely series producer Paul Moloney kept coming down every time it was someone’s last scene and we’d do a speech and clap them off. There were tears every day for those final weeks.’
While filming wrapped last year, the final installment of the story begins this week, which follows a group of best friends who won Lotto in season one.
