Wiggles star Anthony Field shared his heartbreak on Friday as he revealed his sister Maria had lost her battle with cancer.
Taking to social media to announce the sad news, Anthony wrote: “I am heartbroken, she touched everyone who met her with love.”
The blue wiggle shared the news alongside a black and white picture of them both from their childhood.
He also uploaded the picture to Instagram adding: “Tonight my beautiful darling sister passed away from Cancer. She was the sweetest of all sweethearts.
“Always giving love – 36 years a nurse, compassionate till the end! I am heartbroken. Love you beautiful Maria, mitten,” he added.
Two days prior to her death, the 56-year-old shared a picture of him surrounded by family, including his sister Maria.
“I am lucky, very lucky to have a beautiful sister Maria who has always looked after me. ❤️love you Maria,” he wrote.
Celebrities flooded his account with their condolences.
“Mate so sad Anto, love to all your family brother x,” wrote country musician Troy Caser-Daly.
Emma Watkins, the yellow wiggle also added a comment with prayer signs and hearts.
“Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss and your sister’s suffering. Sending strength and love from Tassie & May you get the time you need to connect & grieve with your loved ones. Thanks for making us smile each day. 💙 Bonnie, Nath & the Sveen-Gooley twins,” wrote Bonnie Sveen.
