Married At First Sight’s Nadia has been slammed by fans for choosing to stay with the season’s villain, Anthony.
Throughout the season, Anthony has repeatedly humiliated Nadia, shaming her body, outfits and lifestyle.
Despite this, the 37-year-old decided to stay with her outspoken beau in last night’s commitment ceremony.
“Initially in the relationship you took the reins — immediately calling the shots, perhaps expecting me to be more passive than I actually am. I felt a bit unheard and like my opinion or voice didn’t matter,” she told Anthony.
“I’ve realised that in the end … the good outweighs the bad. And I’m ready to take this leap with you … when I’m with you I feel secure, protected, happy,” she concluded.
Australian viewers were quick to slam Nadia’s decision, taking to Twitter to express their outrage.
But the Brisbane-based beauty has since defended her shock decision, encouraging viewers to understand there is more to her relationship with Anthony than what was shown on the series.
“I’m aware as to how things can be portrayed or edited on TV,” she told TheFIX.
“I’m completely open about that. But I think in my mindset when you are completely yourself and you don’t compromise that – we are in control of what we say and what we do – you can’t really go wrong.”
“Things will come out as they do,” she added.
“People will interpret things as they will, that’s the price you pay for putting your love life on a national platform.”
