Pictures of her high-spirited antics have been splashed around the world, but the Melbourne Cup partier who has become known as ‘wheelie bin girl’ says she’s not ashamed.
Kiwi horse trainer Jade Jillings has decided to waive her anonymity, stepping forward for an interview on Channel Ten’s The Project. After initially feeling embarrassed by the attention, she’s now going with the flow.
‘At the end of the day we were having a laugh,’ she explained of the images of her and flatmate Tyler having a laugh, pretending to ride the bin like a horse.
‘People were like, “she is not classy, that’s embarrassing for Australia”, but then some people were also like “everybody does this and it’s just the photographers took photos of the”‘. And, like, that’s just the way it was.’
Adds Tyler: ‘There was no trouble. We were having a good time. I feel like that’s what racing is about. We didn’t harm anyone.’
The media storm has reached New Zealand, with the pair revealing that both of their mothers are proud of them.
‘Our mums agreed that “they were just having a good time and didn’t harm anyone,’ said Jade.
