Their regular foray into prime time television has been highly anticipated.
But the season debut of Hamish and Andy’s new series True Story is receiving mixed reviews from viewers.
Many took to Twitter after last night’s episode went to air to share their brutally honest assessments of the show.
#TrueStory.Worst show ever…. a huge disappointment

Really not vibing #TrueStory these are the kind of lengthy, average stories your parents tell at dinner that only they laugh at. 😐

Going out on a limb early here, but Hamish and Andy won't be back for a 2nd series of True Story. Absolute rubbish……

Hamish and Andy present: Don't give up your day job

Oh wait. They already have. #TrueStory
Hmmm I love Hamish and Andy but this just didn't do it for me. I'll try next episode then I'm out I'm afraid

But while most were left unimpressed by the quirky concept, others couldn’t help but love the duo’s new venture.
True story looks good. Trust Hamish and Andy to always have their finger on the pulse !

Several viewers were also quick to point out the program’s resemblance to Comedy Central’s hit franchise Drunk History.
So Hamish and Andy's new show is just Drunk History? #TVWEEKLogies

This new Hamish and Andy show looks a helluva lot like Drunk History

The poor audience response will surely come as a shocking blow for the radio veterans, who reportedly turned down offers of $10 million to keep creative control over the 10-part series which has been in the works for almost three years.
“It’s been a long labour of love,” Andy recently told New Idea.
True Story With Hamish & Andy airs Monday, 7.30pm, Channel Nine.
