Usher reportedly paid US$1.1 million to settle a lawsuit between him and a celebrity stylist, who accused him of infecting her with the herpes virus.
Court papers from 2012 uncovered by Radar Online reveal that the 38-year-old singer had unprotected sex with the woman and failed to tell her he was carrying the virus.
In California it is illegal to knowingly transmit an STD.
Usher allegedly told the woman he did not have the disease and they continued a sexual relationship.
The woman developed symptoms of the virus, including a fever, chills, aches and pains, and she also ‘developed lesions and blisters in her vagina,’ according to court documents, which lead to her diagnoses of herpes.
Usher also allegedly paid for some of the woman’s medical bills in 2012, which came to the total of $2,754.40 – this was also when he confirmed to her that he was a carrier of the herpes virus.
The legal documents revealed he was ‘exposed to herpes’ in 2009 or 2010, around the same time his divorce to Tameka Foster was finalised.
Radar Online divulged the victim said in a declaration that she ‘feels that her health and body have been ruined,’ and she ‘has suffered severe emotional distress and has been extremely depressed … knowing there is no cure.’
