Legendary singer Cher has wasted away to a worrying  49kgs and things may be so dire, she could be in need of a liver transplant, according to a sensational report published today in the US.

Top US magazine Globe claims the 71-year-old If I Could Turn Back Time singer’s body is being affected by a mysterious liver disorder that’s disrupting her metabolism.

The disturbing diagnosis comes from a top medical expert and the Institute of BioAcoustic Biology in Ohio, a company that uses a ground-breaking computer algorithm to uncover serious health issues by analysing a person’s voice.

BioAcoustic CEO Sharry Edwards, who has urged Cher to get a blood test as soon as possible, found that the singer has “a dangerous imbalance of certain nutrients, especially choline, glycine and inositol. This could indicate a problem with her metabolism, which would suggest an underlying issue with her liver”.

New York internist Dr Stuart Fischer also looked at BioAcoustic’s findings and told the Globe: “Anything involving metabolism is highly suspicious of liver disease. It depends on the severity, but once it’s diagnosed it can be rapidly fatal.”

Neither individual has treated Cher.

The superstar has had a rough time with her health, battling the energy-sapping Epstein-Barr virus and being forced to wear a heart monitor.

However she is also claimed to be undergoing experimental stem cell treatments to head off the worst of her health problems in a desperate attempt to avoid an organ transplant.

“Adding liver disease to this potentially lethal cocktail of illnesses would be more bad news,” adds Sharry Edwards.

“It’s a tragedy,” says a source.
