US networks reportedly rejected the opportunity to broadcast The Real Housewives Of Sydney because the fights between the women were ‘too extreme’.
The series, which stars stars AthenaX Levendi, Lisa Oldfield, Krissy Marsh, Matty Samaei, Melissa Tkautz, Nicole O’Neill and Victoria Rees, allegedly didn’t focus enough on the fun and friendships between the women, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Foxtel executive director of television Brian Walsh told the publication US TV execs voiced their concern over the ‘extreme’ catfights on the show.
‘A lot of the women in this show were nasty for nasty’s sake and have no redeeming features,’ Walsh said.
‘I particularly felt Lisa Oldfield and AthenaX Levendi were driving their own agendas.’
He said if a second season were to go ahead, the show would get a complete overhaul.
‘I’ve raised my concerns with the production team from this season. I felt the bad language and behaviour throughout the series did go too far,’ he revealed.
In contrast, the Real Housewives Of Melbourne airs in a prime-time slot in the US with its next season currently in production.
