Inspirational burns survivor and athlete Turia Pitt has revealed why she has sadly had to pull out of a Mount Everest trek.
Set to speak on Sunday night’s 60 minutes, the 29-year-old will open up bout what forced her to pull out of the trek ‘at the last minute’.
So you were just about to climb to Everest Base Camp… What happened?’ reporter Allison Langdon said in a preview of the episode.
‘I was just feeling really sick,’ Turia responded. ‘I was like okay, just stay calm.’
In a recent news letter sent to online followers, the young athlete explained: ‘You know, things aren’t always gonna turn out the way we imagined, sometimes you’re going to feel scared and sometimes you’re gonna get dumped,’ she wrote.
‘But here’s the cool part: While you can’t always control what happens to you, you get to decide how you’re gonna respond.’
Turia was set to lead the trek to Everest from May 10 to May 28, which ended up raising more than AUD $240,000 for Interplast, an organization providing life-changing surgery and medical training in 17 countries across the Asia-Pacific region.
