Melania Trump has responded to a viral video – recently shared to millions of people by comedian Rosie O’Donnell – that speculated her son with president elect Donald Trump may be on the autism spectrum.
Rosie has been blasted by fans for promoting the video, which many felt was an intrusive attack on 10-year-old Barron Trump’s right to medical privacy. The star – who has a bitter history of ugly public feuding with Donald Trump – claimed she shared the video to raise awareness.
Now mum Melania has stepped up to protect her child – and to set the record straight.
‘This law firm represents First Lady–elect Melania Trump and her 10-year-old son, Barron Trump,’ reads a statement sent to Us Weekly. ‘A video was posted at YouTube recently speculating that Barron might be autistic. He is not.
‘The video includes the hashtag ‘StopTheBullying’ but yet the video itself is bullying by making false statements and speculation about a 10-year-old boy for the purpose of harassing him and his parents.
‘The online bullying of children, including Barron Trump, should end now.’
The man who created and posted the video – who claimed to be an autism activist – has now agreed to delete it, and has issued a full apology.
