Much-loved True Blood actor Nelsan Ellis has tragically passed away today it has been confirmed.
He was just 39-years-old.
“Nelsan has passed away after complications with heart failure,” his manager Emily Gerson Saines said of the star who was best known for playing flamboyant Lafayette in the hit HBO series.
“He was a great talent, and his words and presence will be forever missed.”
Friends and former colleagues of the star flocked to social media to express their sadness and share memories of their time with the actor.
“Just got word that we lost @nelsanellisofficial. My heart breaks for his kids and family,” Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer said of her friend and co-star from The Help.
True Blood’s creator Alan Ball told The Hollywood Reporter: “Nelsan was a singular talent whose creativity never ceased to amaze me. Working with him was a privilege.”
Nelsan’s True Blood co-stras also paid tribute to the actor.
“Crushed today by the loss of my friend and castmate Nelsan Ellis,” Joe Manganiello wrote.
“He was a wonderful person, a pioneer, and a one of a kind artist. RIP.”
“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the level of humility and kindness that came with the magnificent talent that Nelsan Ellis had. Miss u friend,” added Sam Trammell.
As well as True Blood, Nelsan was best known for his roles in films such as The Help, The Soloist, The Butler, Secretariat, and Get on Up.
