Tributes are pouring in this morning for media personality Rebecca Wilson, who has tragically passed away aged just 54, after a very private battle with breast cancer.
The popular personality, who made her name across the media with highly successful stints in TV, radio and newspapers, will be sadly missed – as proven by the deluge of support today for her family, and all the glowing words about her life.
Today Show host Lisa Wilkinson lead the tributes, writing, ‘So sad to hear of passing of my former Beauty & The Beast partner in crime #RebeccaWilson. Thoughts so much with Harto & her treasured boys.’
‘Vale Rebecca Wilson, great sports columnist, devoted mother, wife and friend. Shocking news of her passing, to breast cancer,’ wrote her husband Peter FitzSimons on Twitter.
TV’s Georgie Gardner wrote, ‘Incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Rebecca Wilson. So striking and strong & absolute trail blazer. Condolences to her family.’
Added The ABC’s Juanita Phillips, ‘So terribly sad to hear of Rebecca Wilson’s passing. Funny, gutsy, one of a kind, unforgettable woman. Condolences to John and her boys’
Julia Zemiro called Rebecca ‘funny & generous’, adding that she ‘made me feel so welcome on The Fat sports shows. My thoughts are with her family and friends.’
Ten’s Hugh Riminton wrote, ‘Very sad to hear of the death of Rebecca Wilson. A larger than life character, gone far too soon. RIP.’
Country music favourite Troy Cassar-Daley said Rebecca ‘always wonderful to yarn to and had spirit!’
We will all miss you, Rebecca.
