Movie legend Jane Fonda’s health is in decline and she’s on the edge of a “meltdown,” according to a disturbing report in US magazineThe Globe today.
She failed to show up at the Screen Actors Guild Awards as scheduled to present Lily Tomlin with her Lifetime Achievement Award, and instead their 9 To 5 co-star Dolly Parton did the honours.
“She must be really sick, because we’ve been talking to each other for weeks about getting to do this,” Dolly said at the January 29 event.
Sources tell The Globe that it’s more than illness getting Jane down – the publication previously reported she recently ended her romance with music producer Richard Perry, 74, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
“Jane is in bad shape, emotionally and physically,” The Globe’s source says. “Richard grounded her and kept Jane from overindulging in her workaholic ways. Without Richard, Jane isn’t taking care of herself.”
According to the source, Jane is still haunted by the memory of her mother’s suicide. Jane was only 12 when Frances Ford Seymour cut her own throat in a mental hospital.
“Jane is cracking up and coming apart at the seams,” the publication’s source adds.
