It’s happening!
Tom Cruise has confirmed that he will be starring in a Top Gun sequel.
The actor made the official announcement whilst in Sydney on Channel 7’s morning show Sunrise, promoting his latest film The Mummy.
“Rumours of a Top Gun 2, please say it’s true,” co-host Samantha Armytage said.
The actor, 54, had no problem keeping the news a secret. “It’s true, it’s true,” he repeated multiple times.

When asked when the sequel would be happening, Cruise confirmed: “I’m going to start filming it probably within the next year. It’s happening, it’s definitely happening.”
Cruise told Armytage and co-host David Koch that they were the first people he’s revealed the news to. “I’m here, you asked me and so I’m telling you it’s going to happen,” he said.

Top Gun was released in 1986 starring Cruise as Maverick, Kelly McGillis as Charlie and Val Kilmer as Ice Man.
