There’s long been rumours that Tom Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes was the result of a secret “wife search” by the Church of Scientology.
And now, a former member of the controversial religion has come forward to say that she once auditioned to be the Mission Impossible star’s wife and tell of the “mind control mechanisms” the Church used on its members.
Anette Iren Johansen claims she was one of several women “auditioned” to be Tom’s wife back in 2004 and 2005.
The Norwegian blonde told Star magazine “They asked me so many questions about my life, my family background, everything I’d ever done in Scientology.
‘There was a lot of talk about Tom at that time because he had just been in Norway hosting the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.”
Two weeks later, Anette claims she received a phone call from a man who claimed he worked with Golden Era Productions, Scientology’s California-based in-house studio.
“He said it was regarding my audition and that he needed to ask e some very private questions.
“He asked ‘Do you have any sexual perversions?’”
Anette told him no, revealing she never heard from him again.
Former Scientologist Marc Headley tells the publication that Anette’s experience definitely sounds like it was an audition to be Tom’s next wife.
Headley claims to have watched dozens of alleged audition videos and claims that the bizarre questions put to Anette were “the exact same ones that they were asking the other girls.”
Insiders state that the auditions began after Tom’s 2001 divorce to Nicole Kidman and ran right up until 2005, when he was introduced to Katie Holmes.
“There are many people who have walked away from Scientology remaining silent,” says Anette.
“It has been embarrassing, but I’ve put all that behind me and decided to be open about it.”
“What happened to Katie is terrible,” she continues.
“To is totally cult-minded. I’m very happy that I wasn’t matched up with him.”
Tom Cruise has yet to respond to Star magazine’s bizarre allegations.
