Mission: Impossible 6 has been forced to take a hiatus on filming after Tom Cruise seriously injured himself on set.
Footage has surfaced of the actor shooting a stunt in London over the weekend, which shows the 55-year-old attempting to jump between two rooftops whilst attached to a safety harness.
In the shocking clip, the star can be seen falling short of his target and slamming into the side of the building with significant force.
Paramount Pictures have since released a statement confirming the father-of-three broke his ankle in the incident.
“During production on the latest Mission: Impossible film, Tom cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt,” the statement read.
“Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery, and the film remains on schedule to open July 27, 2018.”
The studio added: “Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support and can’t wait to share the film with everyone next summer.”
According to reports, filming is set to stop for up to nine weeks while Cruise recovers.
This is sure to come as a shocking blow to the Top Gun star, who has been training to reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the hit franchise for over a year.
“What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before,” producer David Ellison told Collider.
“It is absolutely unbelievable.”
