Fans of The Voice know UK singer Jessie J to be upfront and honest – but viewers are complaining she has gone too far this season!
During filming for Sunday night’s battle round, audience members were left shocked by the Flashlight star’s blistering attack on her youngest team member, 17-year-old Aaliyah Warren.
While Jessie initially apologised for her bad song choice – admitting the Nirvana track was too difficult for her nervous team members – she didn’t hold back with the criticism.
Cutting down the singer, Jessie revealed that, despite being Aaliyah’s mentor, she didn’t actually know the girl’s name.
Her outburst continued as she told Aaliyah that she felt she was doing her a favour by booting from the competition, insisting she was too young to handle the spotlight – shattering the teen’s dreams.
‘It was really awkward to watch,’ one audience member tells New Idea.
‘Jessie just ripped into Aaliyah, saying she hadn’t even really spoken to her, she didn’t even know her name and that Aaliyah was too shy to be on the show.
‘She says she tells the truth, but she was being a bit of a bully, because it had nothing to do with Aaliyah’s singing ability… The girl looked mortified up there.’
