There’s something TV’s ‘Queen of Nice’ Ellen Degeneres doesn’t want her fans to know – she’s been labelled one of Hollywood’s nastiest bosses, with reports today that many of her staff can’t stand her.
The TV talk-show titan is actually the ‘Queen of Mean’, according to a new report in US magazine Globe. Rumours that the 59-year-old star’s bubbly persona vanishes the moment the cameras stop rolling have persisted strongly for years and now sources say she’s ‘a dictatorial boss who explodes at staffers ‘over the tiniest things’.
The magazine claims Ellen’s beleaguered underlings will stay longer at work after hours just to vent their frustrations over their boss. ‘A few have even quit because of her behaviour,’ an insider told Globe.
While Ellen is said to be an epic ‘suck up’ when it comes to her celebrity guests, not everyone gets the A-list treatment. Comedian Kathy Griffin says she started sobbing after a huge bust-up with Ellen, who ‘went on a rant’ after Kathy called her out for ‘having a mean streak that all of Hollywood knows about’ in her book.
The report follows an unsettling recent incident, in which Ellen shocked some fans by publicly shaming a woman who was secretly filmed loading up on free merchandising, after being told it was strictly one item per person.
Entrapping guests by offering them apparently unsupervised access to a room full of goodies, Ellen then shamed those who had broken the rules by showing the footage during the show and grilling one of the women, who was seated in the audience.
