After 10 years of marriage together, Mel B filed for divorce from Stephen Belafonte last week. And now, the reason why has finally been revealed…
According to Belafonte’s brother Jeremiah Stansbury, the former Spice Girls singer left her husband after a series of shocking incidents during their marriage, including him bringing a gun home, flirting with their nanny and attacking their pet dog.
Jeremiah Stansbury told The Sun, “In America keeping guns is normal but I remember one of the maids telling me that Mel was confused about why he needs one. She seemed to be a bit nervous about it.”
Mel’s brother-in-law also revealed that Belafonte punched their Labrador, Lord, with such force that it collapsed.
Jeremiah revealed: “The dog collapsed and had no breath and was crying. He was standing there laughing. It made me feel ill.’’
“This was in July 2008 and Mel was not there to intervene.’’
The singer cited the reason for divorce as ‘irreconcilable differences’. The pair will share joint custody of their children.
