It’s been a tumultuous year for Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West. While Kim has been easing back into the spotlight since her traumatic October Paris robbery saga, Kanye has been less social since his late 2016 breakdown and hospitalisation.
Now, it’s been revealed Kanye will not be attending the 2017 Met Gala, one of fashions biggest nights, in a bid to put his personal wellness first.
‘He’s not going because he’s not ready to start attending big events,’ the source reveals to PEOPLE magazine. ‘He’s doing great but wants to keep his stress levels low and just wants to take more time off. Kim and Kanye are in a great place.’
Another source clarified to PEOPLE, ‘It had nothing to do with the Met Gala. It was more about the stress and pressure of a big red carpet. He just wasn’t quite there yet,’ they said. ‘Kanye has been doing okay. He’s made a lot of good progress and is in a much better place.’
As for what Kanye will be doing instead of attending the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s famed stairs on Monday, he’ll be on daddy duty.
‘He’ll be staying back in L.A. with their kids [North and Saint]. Everything is great with him and Kim and he’s supportive of her going solo.’
Kim made her Met Gala debut in 2013 with Kanye and they have attended together ever since.
